Can We Talk about Loving our Enemy?

Is it just me, or is there almost no talk of forgiveness and the loving of ones enemies in the Christian community today? Maybe I spend too much time on Facebook, which seems to inspire only humor, sentimentality, or vehemence. But consider, other than the occasional sermon–which is only meant to begin the work of figuring out how to live the proclaimed truth–I hear very little about this central theme. And isn't it the upside down, last will be first, narrative of Jesus that promises us the freedom and peace that we desire, rather than the insistence that others conform to our ideals?
