The "conservative," law & order world view, you may have noticed, is rooted in the assumption of a corrupted human nature, sometimes thought of as original sin. This part of their narrative is true. Even when we thicken the story of humanity with original blessing and emphasize the foundational power of environment, it's clear that in this world, the best people suffer at the hand of the worst. (This last phrase is from Peterson)
What's lacking from the conservative, law & order narrative is sacrifice. Not sacrifice of others, i.e., the innocent victim wiping away their sins, or the young being sacrificed in their wars over territory and resources, no they're great proponents of the heroic sacrifice for god and country.
What they lack is the Christian understanding of sacrifice, where the king lays down his own life not to forgive sins, but for the sinner. It's the law of men that demands blood to forgive, the divine forgives by nature. The Christ-like sacrifice is kenotic, of self for the other, not of the other for the self.
